Terms of service
Terms of service
These terms set out how you buy from Jolturn and how we work with each other. They apply to every order placed through this website. Please read them before you order. Nothing in these terms reduces your rights as a consumer under UK law.
1. Who we are
Jolturn sells the Jolturn Jump Star and related equipment to customers in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at info@jolturn.co.uk, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. A person reads every message and we aim to reply within one working day.
2. These terms
These terms apply to every order. We may change them from time to time; the version published on this page when you place your order is the version that applies to that order. It is worth saving or printing a copy when you order.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them continue to apply.
3. Who can buy from us
You must be at least 18 years old and give a delivery address in the United Kingdom.
Most of these terms assume you are buying as a consumer. If you are buying in the course of a business, the 14-day cancellation right referred to in section 8 does not apply to you, and section 11 limits what we are liable for.
We may refuse or cancel an order we reasonably believe has been placed for resale, and we will refund it in full.
4. Our products and the information about them
We describe our products as accurately as we can. Performance figures — peak current, pressure, airflow, running time and weight — come from the manufacturer's specification and are given in good faith. They describe what the unit is rated to do, not a guarantee of performance in any particular vehicle or conditions.
Photographs, packaging and accessories may differ slightly from what arrives.
Occasionally there may be an error in a description, a price or an availability figure. Where we find one we will correct it, and where it affects an order you have already placed we will contact you before dispatch so you can confirm or cancel.
5. Placing an order, and when a contract is formed
Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it, and a contract between us comes into existence, when we email to confirm that your order has been dispatched — not when you place the order and not when payment is taken.
If we cannot accept your order — the product is unavailable, we cannot deliver to your address, payment is declined, or there has been a pricing error — we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
6. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate. The delivery charge, and whether your order qualifies for free delivery, are shown at checkout before you pay.
We take payment when you order. Payment is handled by our payment provider; card numbers do not reach us.
Prices can change, but a change never affects an order we have already accepted. If a price is obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised it as an error, we do not have to supply the product at that price.
7. Delivery
Where we deliver, how long it takes and what happens if a parcel is delayed or lost are set out in our shipping policy, which forms part of these terms.
The goods become your responsibility when they are delivered to the address you gave us. You own them once we have received payment in full.
8. Cancelling, returning and the warranty
Your right to cancel within 14 days, our 30-day return and how refunds are handled are set out in our refund and returns policy, which forms part of these terms.
Every Jump Star carries a 12-month warranty running from the day it is delivered, covering faults arising in normal use. It is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect them. It does not cover damage caused by misuse or accident, by unauthorised repair or modification, or the gradual loss of battery capacity that happens to every lithium-ion cell with age and use.
9. Using the Jump Star safely
The Jump Star delivers a high current and contains a lithium-ion battery. Used incorrectly it can cause fire, burns, injury, or damage to your vehicle. Read the manual supplied with it before you use it, and in particular:
- follow the connection order and the polarity set out in the manual;
- do not use it on a battery that is damaged, leaking, frozen or visibly swollen;
- do not use it where there is fuel vapour, a spark or a naked flame;
- do not open, modify, pierce, crush or submerge the unit;
- charge it only with the cable supplied, or one meeting the specification in the manual, and do not leave it charging unattended for long periods;
- keep it away from children, and out of sustained heat such as a closed car in direct sun;
- stop using it and contact us if it becomes hot, swells, is damaged, or behaves unexpectedly.
You are responsible for using the product in line with the manual and for judging whether it is suitable for your vehicle. If you are not confident jump starting a vehicle, use a qualified mechanic or a breakdown service.
Nothing in this section limits our responsibility for a product that is faulty or not as described.
10. Battery disposal
The Jump Star contains a lithium-ion battery and must not be put in household waste. At the end of its life, send it back to us and we will dispose of it properly under the WEEE regulations, or take it to a local recycling point that accepts batteries and electrical equipment.
11. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of your legal rights in relation to the goods, and under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
If we supply faulty goods and the fault damages your property, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. We will not be responsible where the damage was caused by you not following the manual or the safety terms in section 9.
If you buy or use the product in the course of a business, we have no liability to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
12. Your account and this website
If you create an account, keep your login details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used them.
You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You must not try to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with how it works, use it to send unsolicited messages, or copy substantial parts of it. We may withdraw access if you do.
The content on this site — the text, images, video, the Jolturn name and logo, and the way they are arranged — belongs to us or to our licensors. You may view and print it for your own use. Anything beyond that needs our permission.
13. Reviews and anything you send us
If you send us a review, photograph, video, question or suggestion, you give us permission to use it, including on this website, in emails and in advertising, without payment. You confirm that it is your own work, that it is accurate, and that anyone identifiable in it has agreed to appear.
We publish reviews from people who bought the product, including the ones we would rather not read. We may decline to publish, or remove, anything unlawful, abusive or misleading.
14. Things outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — severe weather, carrier failure, industrial action, or interruption to power or telecommunications, for example. If one happens we will tell you, and either agree a new delivery date with you or refund you in full.
15. Ending the agreement
You may end the contract in the circumstances set out in our refund and returns policy.
We may end it, cancel your order and refund you if you do not make a payment when it is due, or do not give us the information or access we need in order to deliver.
16. Privacy
How we collect, use and store your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
17. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email info@jolturn.co.uk with your order number and we will look at it properly. We are not currently a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, so if we cannot settle a complaint between us you are free to take the matter to court.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you may also bring proceedings in Scotland, and if you live in Northern Ireland, in Northern Ireland.
